This summer, the Paul Webb Basketball Camp celebrates 44 years coaching area basketball campers!
Since1965,Coach Paul Webb has been successfully instructing thousands of boys and girls, ages 7-17, to become the most complete basketball players they can be. The camps are located at area high schools and middle schools. Each of the camps feature special guests along with top high school coaches, and instruction from both Coach Paul Webb, former ODU basketball coach and Coach Eddie Webb, President of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Attendees of Coach Webb's camps "have a ball" as well as learn the fundamentals of basketball. Harold Deane, former camper and All-ACC guard for the University of Virginia remembers, "I learned a lot from the camps, but I wanted to come back because of the fun I had as a camper. Coach Webb knows how to teach and entertain. He emphasizes the importance of fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship, but he motivates and really cares about the kids," said Deane.
The Fundamentals of Basketball...
The Paul Webb All-Star Basketball Camp stresses the fundamentals of basketball. Each minute of every day is planned in advance. Ball handling, defense, rebounding, shooting, free throws, and the rules of the game are all covered among other topics at each camp location. "I just think these camps are a great experience for every kid," said Webb. "The kids are no different than they were at the first camp in '65. They're still enthusiastic and eager to learn."
